Carrot and Cheese Sticks

Carrot and Cheese Sticks
These basic carrot and cheese sticks are surprisingly tasty and very addictive! They were a big hit with my two year old.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup carrot, finely grated
  • 2/3 cup cheese, finely grated
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 50g butter, softened
  • 4 tbsp water

Method

Preheat oven to 190 C (375 F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.

In a mixing bowl, use fingers to rub butter and flour together until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Add water one tablespoon at a time while mixing. Use hands to bring dough together.

Add cheese and carrot and squish into the dough until well combined.

Place dough on a lightly floured surface and roll flat with a rolling pin (dust rolling pin with flour to keep it from sticking).

Cut into sticks about 1 cm wide and 5 cm long.

Place sticks onto baking tray, evenly spaced.

Bake for 15 mins.

DID YOU KNOW...

  • Carrots are packed full of beta-carotene, which our bodies convert into vitamin A. Carrots are one of the best sources of vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for your skin, bones, teeth, and vision. Beta-carotene is also what gives carrots their distinct orange colour.
  • Cheese is among the richest dietary sources of calcium, which plays an essential role in bone health.
