Walnut Snack Balls

Walnut Snack Balls
These tasty and energy-packed snack balls are made using just three simple ingredients.

They are fantastic for lunchboxes and snacks on the go, and are made into perfect little bite sized balls for toddlers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup walnut kernels
  • 1 cup sultanas
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats

Method

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until a smooth(ish) mixture forms.

The mixture should be very soft, easily squished into a ball, and possibly a little warm.

Try rolling a small amount into a ball - if it seems too gooey to roll, add a little bit more oats and process until evenly chopped. If it seems too dry to hold together, add another sprinkle of sultanas and process again.

Roll mixture into bite-sized balls about 2cm across. Place on a plate, cover, and put them in the fridge to cool.

Store in the fridge in an airtight container for about a week.

DID YOU KNOW...

  • Sultanas are a fantastic way of sweetening recipes without adding refined sugar, and toddlers love to snack on them. However, please be aware that they are extremely high in sugar and can cause tooth decay. Their sticky texture causes them to stick in your child's teeth and cause damage until their teeth are cleaned properly. Try not to offer your toddler dried fruits too often, and make sure you clean their teeth regularly.
