10 healthy avocado recipes for toddlers

Avocado is an excellent first food for babies. It is nutrient dense, meaning it is loaded with vitamins and minerals with fairly low calories, and has a rich, creamy texture that babies just love!

As your babies grow, more and more options open up for cooking with avocado. You can put them in smoothies, have them with salad, use them to make puddings, put them in muffins to keep them moist, make salad dressings with them... The possibilities are endless.

This amazing fruit contains almost 20 vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, folate, potassium, vitamin K and vitamin E. The 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines suggest replacing high fat foods containing mostly saturated fats with foods like avocado, which contain mostly unsaturated fats.

Avocados are also trans fat-, cholesterol, and sodium-free, and regular consumption helps to promote heart health.
